Days with ArchLinux

So, its been around a month since i shifted to ArchLinux and it has been quite a nice experience mainly because i was used to being spoon-fed by Ubuntu and Fedora and was fed off. It was quite hard to set it because my /etc/rc.d always seemed to get screwed when i edited it. The first application i installed was irssi. Then i downloaded xorg, xfce, rtorrent etc.

Log:

  • Login the live arch cd, /arch/setup
  • Format and partition HDD
  • Configure system files
  • Boot Freshly installed system, *Grub menu looks nice*
  • OMG, No GUI!!! :-(
  • pacman -Sy irssi
  • pacman -Syu
  • Started irssi, /join #grind on freenode

  • pacman -S compiz-fusion fusion-icon
  • restarted x, now i can even run compiz :D
  • installed ratpoison for a change
